I have forgotten the birds
their flight
their beauty
their freedom
their message

muffled sobs could be heard from the front
The words of greatness and devotion spoken
a slow filing from the pews
and then the silent journey up the hill to her final resting spot

Her spirit has been lifted
the burdens removed
finally free of the pain and the sorrow
memories abound of priceless gifts
a blessing to have known, and one never to forget
